About Megan

Educated at the University of Virginia (Ph.D. and M.A.) and Binghamton University (B.A. summa cum laude), Dr. Megan Stubbendeck holds a doctorate in history and has over thirteen years of teaching experience. She is a leader in curriculum innovation in the American test prep industry, having worked in test prep for ten years.

Dr. Stubbendeck has privately tutored students of all backgrounds for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, IGCSE, GCSE, TOEFL, IB, AP, and Subject Tests. Her students have been admitted to all of the top twenty universities in the United States, including the Ivy League schools. She has also counseled students on research essays published in The Concord Review and Columbia Undergraduate Law Review. Over the last eight years she has headed multiple teams of tutors, overseeing tutor training and management. She has written curricula and workbooks for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, ISEE, AP, and Subject Tests used by a number of companies in the United States. In addition to tutoring for ArborBridge, Dr. Stubbendeck is the company’s Senior Director of Instruction. In this role, she oversees all curriculum development at the company and professional development of a seventy-person tutoring team. She also serves as the company’s Subject Specialist in U.S. History, designing history curriculum and serving as a resource for history tutors.

Dr. Stubbendeck’s academic and published work focuses on American political development in the twentieth century as it relates to crime and punishment, race/ethnicity, and popular culture. Her work received multiple grants from archives and universities across the country. While at the University of Virginia, Dr. Stubbendeck taught undergraduate courses for the History Department, where she earned designation as one of the university’s top-rated instructors.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Stubbendeck won the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and was the only undergraduate chosen for a full academic scholarship to Binghamton University. While at Binghamton, she was a leading member of the University Scholars Program and a Presidential Scholar. She also spent a semester at the Sorbonne in Paris studying French language and history. Her work as an undergraduate earned her the Social Sciences Award for Student Excellence, the Amy M. Gilbert Prize for Excellence in History, and the Henrietta L. Pitler Award for Scholarship and Leadership.
