About Preston

Preston graduated cum laude from Princeton. As an undergrad there, he tutored local high school students in SAT and ACT prep, college essay writing, English, math, and political science, among other subjects. Preston also taught English at a high school in Dakar, Senegal, through a university-sponsored gap year program; facilitated week-long courses in New York City high schools on the college application process; helped a Thai NGO design curriculum for a master’s program in Socially-Engaged Buddhism; and taught philosophy classes in prisons near Princeton. At the end of his senior year, Preston was awarded the Class of 1869 Prize for his thesis on responsibility for historic and structural injustice.

When working with students, Preston recognizes that high school and the college application process can be a stressful and complicated time for students. Preston creates a space of support, offering a listening ear and acting as a sounding board for those with whom he works. In addition to seeking concrete improvements in student processes and mentalities that will lead to increased test scores and grades, Preston hopes to be a mentor whose lessons will extend far beyond the individual sessions and exams.
