    About Shiva

After finishing a high school career that included perfect scores on the SAT Writing section, the SAT Subject Test in Literature, and 4 AP exams, Shiva attended the University of California at Berkeley as a National Merit Semifinalist. At Berkeley, she double majored in English and Comparative Literature, with an emphasis on Spanish and Farsi. As an undergraduate, she spent a semester in Madrid, taking Ph.D. courses in Spanish literature with several of the top literary scholars of the country. Shiva began her tutoring career immediately after completing her B.A. and has been tutoring exclusively since 2012.

As a test prep instructor, Shiva has worked with hundreds of students from all over the world. Her areas of expertise are Spanish, Literature, and Calculus (which she studied at the college level after graduating from Berkeley). She has earned a reputation for helping students achieve score increases incredibly quickly, and her students have gone on to many elite universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, all eight Ivy Leagues, and every campus of the University of California.

Students report that Shiva is a fun and empathetic tutor, who focuses on each student as if they’re the only one she’s working with. As a result, many of Shiva’s tutoring relationships last years, and her students stay in touch with her long after she has helped them reach their goals. Shiva discovered her love for education while teaching inmates how to read at San Quentin Prison, so she’s up for any tutoring challenge!
